From March 6th through to and including Easter (April 20th) St. Paul’s is pleased to showcase the artwork of local Peterborough artist Janet Lutz. The art project, called “Seeing and Being Seen” features 21 beautiful watercolour portraits of people in our community who find themselves vulnerable because of illness, unemployment (or underemployment), addiction and lack of housing. Janet invites us to “see” these neighbours, to engage them in conversation and to affirm their worth and dignity. Janet hopes to inspire those who have a little “extra” to give to Kawartha Food Share (KFS) to help address food insecurity in our city/region. According to Aishlee Aitken, General Manager of KFS, over the past four years, the number of people relying on them for food has increased from 7,000 clients to 14,000. KFS receives no government funding and relies solely on donations and volunteers to run their operations.
If you’d like to view the exhibit, please call the St. Paul’s office at 705-745-1411 to arrange a viewing.
