About the Message

About the Message is a group that meets on Wednesdays at  4:00 p.m. via Zoom to delve deeper into the previous Sunday’s sermon. Was there something you didn’t understand? An important insight you gained that you’d like to share? An idea you want to explore more fully? About the Message is the place for you! Newcomers welcome anytime.  To join, click below on Wednesday afternoon 4:00 p.m.  or  contact the church for other options.

Bible Study

Bible Study is a great place to learn more about God’s word in a fun, low-pressure environment.  Whether you are new to reading the Bible or have been reading for years, we all learn something new and benefit from each others’ observations!  We often watch a video to kickstart our learning and then consider a few questions arising from it.  Our Bible study group meets Wednesday nights online via Zoom at 6:30 p.m.  This group meets via Zoom and you can join using the link below or contact the church for other options.

Book Club

Our book club enthusiasts like to read and discuss books with a Christian theme that help us explore our faith and how to live it out more faithfully. Our newest book club offering is “Practicing the Way: Be with Jesus, Become like him, Do as he did” by John Mark Comer.  We will begin meeting to discuss this book Tuesday, February 24th at Noon through to and including April 14th. Bring your own lunch and be prepared to dive into what it means to be an apprentice of Jesus. Books are available in hardcover and kindle formats on Amazon. To let us know you’re joining us, please contact our administrator: Joanne Boonstra at office@stpaulspeterborough.ca. It would be helpful if you’ve read the first 31 pages of the book prior to the first session.

Past book club selections have included: “Outlive your Life” by  Max Lucado. “Life together” by Dietrich Bonhoeffer,  “Forgive: Why Should I?  How can I?” by the late Rev. Timothy Keller and most recently, “Toxic Charity: How Churches and Charities hurt those they help” by Richard Lupton.   If there’s a book you’d like us to consider for future book clubs, please contact our Pastor, Rev. Debora Rolls at: pastor@stpaulspeterborough.ca.
