LITTLE ANGELS OF JACMEL: Sharing Christ's Love in Haiti Since 2013

Jacmel, Haiti is a coastal city approximately 80 km southwest of Port-au-Prince, nestled between the mountains and the Caribbean Sea.

WHO ARE THE LITTLE ANGELS?

Petit Anges de Jacmel (Little Angels) provides a loving home and care for vulnerable children who, for a variety of circumstances, cannot presently be cared for within their families.

Children in residential care in Haiti may be there because of parental death, extreme poverty, illness, family circumstances, or their families’ inability to provide adequate food, education or safe housing.

OUR PARTNERSHIP

2013

St. Paul’s began exploring a partnership with Little Angels as Haiti continued its long recovery from the devastating 2010 earthquake.

2014

Seven members of St. Paul’s were joined by three members from the Peterborough community to travel to Jacmel for a mission trip. This was the beginning of a long-term relationship with the children and those who care for them.

2015 – and ongoing

Over the years we have worked to improve the nourishment of the children living at the orphanage by purchasing chickens they can raise for eggs/meat; helping the orphanage to keep running when the country’s power is cut due to weather or political uprisings. (We have purchased solar panels and provided funds to drill a well on the property to ensure continual access to safe drinking water.)

2018

We supported the construction of 2 schools in the mountains of Haiti. St. Paul’s continues to help support the salaries of 2 teachers, because we believe education provides children with opportunities to build a better future.

2019

A second team from St. Paul’s returned to Jacmel and saw firsthand the impact our partnership was making.

TODAY

We continue to support and pray for the children of Little Angels and the surrounding community. Many of our church members sponsor a child and provide for their monthly needs. Our partnership has allowed the orphanage to become largely self-sufficient.

Together, members of St. Paul’s have helped provide:

Better Nutrition

Chickens to provide eggs and food

Reliable Energy

Solar panels to run a generator and well provide power during Haiti’s frequent disruptions

Safe Water

Funding to drill a well for continual access to clean drinking water, providing irrigation to enable the children to learn how to grow crops, gardens, fruit trees.

Education

Two schools and ongoing support for teachers plus we contributed towards the purchase of a school bus.

Child Sponsorship

Monthly support to provide for the children’s everyday needs plus we run an annual Christmas gift program. Funds are sent in advance of the holiday season so clothing, foods and gifts can be purchased by the caregivers at the orphanage.

100% of St. Paul’s child sponsorship funds go directly toward meeting the needs of the children.
